Additional Information:The Charles Taylor Department of Aviation Maintenance Science at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Prepares Students for High-Demand Profession.
The Aviation Maintenance Science (AMS) degree is a fundamental part of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, America’s most respected institution for aviation and aerospace studies. At Embry-Riddle’s state-of-the-art facilities in Daytona Beach, Florida, Aviation Maintenance Science (AMS) students receive their training in the ultimate learning environment for aviation’s most sought-after specializations, and enter the job market with certifications from the most highly regarded aeronautical university in the industry.
An essential part of the Bachelor of Science in Aviation Maintenance Science degree program is the “hands-on” training and FAA certification for the Airframe & Powerplant (A &P) certificate. An additional certification program in Avionics Line Maintenance (ALM) is also available. Both programs are offered through the Charles Taylor Aviation Maintenance Science Department. Rounding out the degree program you will receive the balance of the academic programs for the B. S. in Aviation Maintenance Science.
1. Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Technician certification at Embry-Riddle is a 16-month, FAA-approved program (Part 147 of the Federal Aviation Regulations) combining classroom theory with hands-on experience. You’ll get the training you need to qualify for the FAA’s Aviation Maintenance Technician certificate with airframe and powerplant ratings.
2. Avionics Line Maintenance (ALM) Technician certification is achieved through 400+ hours of instruction in advanced avionics. In this four-month certificate program, you’ll learn aircraft electronics (avionics) system installation, wiring concepts, line troubleshooting of avionics aircraft problems and prepare to test for the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) license. Building upon electrical and electronics training received in the A&P program, you will learn the theories and concepts needed to pass the FCC Radiotelephone Operator License test. Embry-Riddle’s ALM program was designed specifically to provide what the industry needs - aviation maintenance technicians with the knowledge and skills to solve any problem found on modern aircraft.
