Victory Media, founded in 2001, took the education mission to a new level in 2009 by publishing the Guide to Military Friendly Schools® and accompanying website (www.militaryfriendlyschools.com).
Our survey-driven list has been published every year since. The 2013 list includes more than 1,700 schools that represent the top tier of U.S. colleges, universities and trade schools doing the most to educate America’s veterans. These schools offer military students the best services, programs, discounts, scholarships, clubs, networking and staff. Our media and list also explain the Post-9/11 GI Bill and offer articles and advice for planning and executing a military education. This is the 4th year that GI Jobs magazine is releasing its Military Friendly Schools list. With over 12,000 VA-approved schools vying for the title, the competition was fierce.
According to the VA, “The Post-9/11 GI Bill will help pay the educational expenses of more than 606,000 service members, veterans, family members and survivors during the next fiscal year.”
Military and prior military students bring maturity and a worldly experience to a classroom. Military Friendly Schools® are making the grade by offering scholarships and discounts, veterans’ clubs, full-time staff, military credit and other services to those who served.
Since 2001, Victory Media and its publications G.I. Jobs, The Guide to Military Friendly Schools, Military Spouse magazine and Vetrepreneur magazine, have set the standard for ranking America’s most “military-friendly” employers and has set the bar for schools that recruit military personnel and veterans as students.
If your school goes ‘above and beyond’ for military students then this is your chance to be recognized and officially designated as a Military Friendly School®.
The survey results that comprise the 2013 list were independently tested by Ernst & Young LLP based upon the weightings and methodology established by Victory Media.
